What is Equality – recognising and respecting diversity and difference. Equality is about ensuring you treat people fairly, it does not mean that you have to treat them the same. It just means that a level playing field is created for all so that nobody is at a disadvantage.

What is Diversity – a term which includes characteristics or factors such as race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age and socioeconomic status. Diversity refers to all of the characteristics that make individuals different from each other.

Who is Affected by equality and Diversity – everyone that enters the College environment. Staff, Students, Contractors, examiners or someone who is just visiting the college from the community. Everyone is responsible for adhering to our commitment to equality and diversity.
