Nowhere Better to Study Veterinary Medicine than London!
Students seeking to study veterinary medicine need look no further than the RVC in London. The Times Higher Education has ranked London as the joint number one city in the world to be a student, and it is the only city in the top three to have an English-speaking vet school – the RVC!
Choosing where to study can be as important a decision as choosing what course to take, and the Times Higher Education survey will help prospective students decide. London drew with Los Angeles to be the best city for students, followed by Hong Kong.
“Being based in central London is amazing. You are never too far away from some amazing piece of history, and there are always new shops and restaurants opening up” said Adam Woodard a BVet Med 1st year RVC student from Texas.
The RVC’s Camden Campus has been located in Royal College Street since 1791 and the area is now one of the most exciting in the city. It’s a stone’s throw from the trendy area of Camden, site of the famous Camden Lock and Market, and just a short walk from the brand-new Francis Crick Institute and all the cafés, restaurants and street food stands of the Kings Cross and Granary Square development. It’s also easier than you think to escape to some peaceful space – London is one of the greenest capitals in the world including eight royal parks which are open to the public.
The buzz of metropolitan city life is a major attraction for students coming to the RVC. As a base London gives access to some of the world’s best cultural venues, sporting centres and connects quickly to the rest of Europe and beyond.
Summing up the experience of being an undergraduate student in London Noreena Lau, a first year BVet Med student from California said “There’s always things to do, there’s always places to go and there’s always a way to get there.”
There is an extra draw for international students looking for postgraduate study. for offering affordable postgraduate education for international students in the latest Good University Guide.* The result is the latest finding of the Reddin Survey of University Tuition Fees for 2016-17, the only comprehensive survey of tuition fees in the UK.
The RVC has always positioned itself as an internationally minded institution welcoming students and staff from across around the world. The RVC’s worldwide reputation makes it an attractive choice for many – particularly for postgraduates seeking to specialise in a particular area of veterinary or biological science. Having already studied for five years or more, affordability can be a barrier – but the result of this survey gives international students a great reason to choose the RVC as their study destination.
Professor David Church, Vice-Principal for Learning and Student Experience at the RVC said: “The RVC recognises the importance of offering affordable postgraduate programmes with a focus on enhancing employability and delivering value for money. We are delighted our programmes have been recognised as achieving these goals”.
