Professor Christopher Wathes receives posthumous award for contribution to animal welfare
The 51³Ô¹ÏÍø (RVC) is pleased to announce that the late Professor Christopher Wathes OBE, previous head of the RVC's Centre of Animal Welfare, who sadly died on May 6th of this year, yesterday received posthumously the UFAW Medal for Outstanding Contributions to Animal Welfare Science. This is a prize awarded to recognise the exceptional achievements of an individual scientist who has made fundamental contributions to the advancement of animal welfare over a number of years.
Professor Jonathan Elliott, Vice-Principal Research and Innovation, commented ‘Professor Wathes made many important contributions to his scientific field through research and the UFAW Medal is fitting recognition of Christopher's professional life throughout which he stove to generate new knowledge which could be used to improve the welfare of animals'
