YOUR
IMPACT
Every day, your generous donations empower our lifesaving work.
They help us plan and fund exciting developments. Whether for education,
hospital equipment or research, whatever you can give, your support matters.
Family's legacy will
have a lasting impact
Leonard Geffen spent his lifetime caring for animals. An RVC
graduate, he valued the education he’d received and wanted
a university education to be accessible to everyone. When he
passed away, he left us a gift in his will to help more people realise
their dreams of studying at the RVC. His generosity established a
scholarship that currently awards a grant of £5,000 to two students
a year. As he requested, the scholarship is named after his favourite
dog – a beloved St Bernard called Rufus of Ruskinmere. When his
niece died, she also left money to the scholarship fund to ensure
Leonard’s legacy would live on.
82 years after Leonard graduated from the RVC, Molly Charnley
followed in his footsteps. This summer she graduated with a BSc in
Biological Sciences and told us how important receiving the Rufus of
Ruskinmere Scholarship was to her.
The scholarship made coming
to the RVC possible. The idea that a
stranger helped me achieve my goal
of graduating from university is a
strange concept, and as clichéd as it
sounds, it demonstrates the kindness
that exists in this world! I hope that I
can return this kindness in the future
and do something similar for another
stranger as sometimes we all just
need a little help.
Legacies – let’s talk
Did you know that we can work with you to create a legacy that has
a special meaning to you? You may wish to support one of the RVC’s
hospitals, a specific area of research, or a student like Molly who needed
a little extra help. Together we can build a legacy that supports the
advancement of veterinary medicine for many years to come. Please get
in touch to chat about your wishes and how we can help.
