1.3 Advice about disability support
Advice about dedicated procedures and support for students can be provided by the Disability Adviser. You may have received support previously, in which case it’s important that things are in place for you at the College, or you may like to know more about what is available. Please note that support is not automatically put in place if you declare a disability or learning difference on entry. To access support you need to engage with the Advice Centre (www.rvc. ac.uk/study/support-for-students) and provide
appropriate evidence of your disability or learning difference.
Support can include:
• Applying for extra time or other special examination arrangements
• Learning Difference support; screening, obtaining a new diagnostic assessment and advice on funding available
• Referrals for specialist study skills tuition or mentoring
• Referrals for extended library loans and research support
• Information about Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) for UK students and assistance with
the application process
• Advice about assistive software or equipment that may be useful on your course
• Information about course requirements and how these might impact health conditions and learning styles
• General advice about studying at the RVC with a health condition or disability
•
In house assessments and support for International
students
