How to apply for Veterinary Education

Applications for 2024 entry are now closed. 

All courses are delivered part-time.

NB: Due to the nature of the course delivery, all applicants must be prepared to access online material and actively engage with the online community through discussion forums and via uploading/downloading a variety of resources. By applying for a course below, you are indicating you agree to this. Please contact Admissions in advance if you envisage any issues. 


Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert)† 

  • Apply for PGCert Veterinary Education
  • Apply for PGCert Veterinary Education (internal RVC staff)

Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip)

  • Apply for PGDip Veterinary Education (from scratch - PGCert section)
  • Apply for PGDip Veterinary Education (having already completed PGCert; PGDip section only)

Masters (MSc) 

  • Apply for MSc Veterinary Education (from scratch - PGCert section)
  • Apply for MSc Veterinary Education (having already completed PGCert; start from PGDip level onwards)
  • Apply for MSc Veterinary Education (having already completed PGDip; MSc section only)

Document requirements

Candidates (apart from internal staff applying for the PGCert only) must submit complete applications that include the documents below:

  1. Personal statement explaining why you would like to do the course and outlining your relevant skills and experiences.
  2. Qualification certificates and/or transcripts (scanned copies). If your award is pending, please upload the transcript of the modules/classes already undertaken.
  3. Two references. At least one reference must be from your current employer. The second reference can either be an academic reference or a second employer reference. It is your responsibility to ensure these have been provided, either as an upload (on letter headed paper and containing the signature of the referee) or via the referee contact mechanism on the online form. 
  4. Passport. 
  5. (If applicable) accreditation with the Higher Education Academy (HEA). 

If you haven’t uploaded ALL the above attachments, your application may not be processed. If you are having problems obtaining the above documents, please contact admissions@rvc.ac.uk before submitting your application.


Internal candidates applying for the PGCert must submit complete applications that include the documents below:

  1. Qualification certificates and/or transcripts (scanned copies). 
  2. Line manager permission to study. You will need to provide this either as an upload or via the referee contact mechanism on the online form. 
  3. Passport. If currently here on a visa, there will be an opportunity to fill in these details too. 
  4. (If applicable) accreditation with the Higher Education Academy (HEA). 

If you haven’t uploaded ALL the above attachments, your application may not be processed. If you are having problems obtaining the above documents, please contact admissions@rvc.ac.uk before submitting your application.
