Induction

The purpose of the RVC Induction Programme is to help new employees settle into their roles quickly, happily and successfully. All new employees at the RVC receive an individual induction conducted by HR.

Probation

All new employees at the RVC are subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period. The line manager will introduce the new starter (‘the probationer’) to the main duties and responsibilities of their role and the standards expected of them. The probationary period is designed as a supportive and positive two-way process to enable the probationer to receive sufficient support and guidance in order to be competent to carry out their role.

Academic Staff Probation

The standard probationary period for academic staff will normally be 3 years. For more information about Academic Staff probation, please refer to the intranet page: . 

Professional Services Staff Probation

The standard probationary period for new employees appointed to Grades 1 to 5 Professional Service support roles will normally be 6 months and Grades 6 to 9 Professional Service support roles will normally be 12 months.
