STUDENT NEWS
RVC Students’ Union President 2023-24
Ezrie Prideaux
nother year passes, and a
new term begins. Already this
is shaping up to be another
Aunique year, as we begin this
new term without the Students’ Union’s
(SU) General Manager, Dave Sherlock-
Jones, who sadly passed away over the
summer. Dave had been at the heart of
the SU for so many years, and it was odd
to welcome a new cohort of students
without him around. As we move through
the new term, I hope that we can continue
Dave’s legacy, from the 2023-24 team
and beyond, with future SU teams.
This year we hope to continue the
good work of Legend Thurman and the
2022-23 SU team. With the Student
Induction taking place in September and
the Christmas Ball being worked on, it’s
been lovely to see the return of much-
loved student events. There may even be
one or two more pre-pandemic events
that make a return for the 2023-24 year,
so watch this space. Whilst student
social lives have returned to normal, their
study lives have seen many changes.
The opening of the new building on
Hawkshead Campus in the summer
term was a delight to many. With the
remodeling of the Eclipse building on
Hawkshead Campus currently underway,
as well as the work to the front of the
Camden Campus, it will be exciting
to see what university life on campus
looks like once the building works are
completed, hopefully, in the near future.
As always, the RVC Students’ Union is
here to support its students. Whether
this be by providing resources to
help individuals and clubs thrive and
succeed, or by listening to student
feedback to champion student voices.
I am looking forward to working with
the 2023-24 SU team, who are already
bursting with ideas for the year ahead,
and also with the RVC to provide a
celebrated student experience.
